Asian Family Therapy

Parenting Coaching

Do you have a difficult relationship with your child?

  • Are you tired of the shouting matches between you and your children? Especially if your children retort in a language different from you.

  • Are you getting frustrated as an immigrant, and seeing your children facing challenges adapting as a second or third generation immigrant?

  • Do your children feel that you are an embarressment to them, especially since you are different from the other parents in school?

  • Do your children experience additional challenges, because their parents are of different racial identities?

It may be that you just want additional strategies and support to use in your relationship with your child at home.

As a first generation immigrant and a parent myself, I can feel your pain. As a therapist who have counseled many families who have experienced similar kinds of challenges, I can help. If you have a language/cultural barrier (English speaking younger generation with Mandarin speaking older generation), I’m especially attuned to both the cultural and linguistic barriers that stand between both generations, having grown up in Taiwan, but educated in the United States, and having taught hundreds of students in a Master’s degree program. In this case, I can be both your therapist and interpreter.
